Four killed in fresh Assam violence

Bodoland area in lower Assam witnessed fresh trouble with the killing of four persons by armed assailants in Jiaguri.

GUWAHATI: Bodoland in Assam is once again under the grip of violence. In last one week 11 persons have lost their lives in diffrent violent incidents.

Four persons were killed by armed assailants in Jiaguri in Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District (BTAD) on Friday. A woman who has sustained bullet injuries succumbed to injuries.

Assam Home commissioner, G.D Tripathy told ET, “Monokumar Brahma member of BTAD and leader of Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF) was arrested on Saturday from his residence in Kokrajhar.”Two AK-47 rifles, two magazines and 60 rounds of assorted ammunition were seized his home.”

Following the arrest there is tension in the area. BPF is a coalition partner of the ruling congress government in Assam.
