NEW DELHI: Police on Monday claimed to have cracked two sensational murder cases of TV journalist Soumya Viswanathan and an IT executive Jigeesha Ghosh with the arrest of four persons.

A senior police official said the recovery of weapon used in the murder of IT executive Jigeesha Ghosh (28) led to the solving of the murder of Viswanathan (27), a producer with a news channel.

"Four persons have been arrested, including one from Bulandshahar. They are involved in both the cases. Weapons and vehicles used in both the crimes have been recovered," the official said.

DCP South, HGS Dhaliwal, has said that initial investigations suggest that the murders were not preplanned. The four are still being interrogated.

Robbery is said to be the motive behind the murders. The arrested persons have been identified as Ravi, Baljit, Amit and Ajay.

Viswanathan was found shot dead in her car on September 30 last year. While the body of Ghosh was found in Faridabad on March 19.
