NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar and Roorkee have together quarantined about 40 students and faculty members who have a history of travel to Covid-19-hit countries.

The institutes said these people have not shown signs of Covid-19 but are being quarantined as per the government directive.

Two weeks’ period in isolation for some of these students will end this week. IIT Roorkee has not shut down its campus but has extended mid-semester break by a week. Earlier, the break was from March 7 to 15. “We extended this by another week. We are either deciding on giving more break or taking classes online,” Ajit K Chaturvedi, director told ET.
