Former West Bengal chief secretary TC Dutt dies

Former chairman of Kolkata Port Trust and HPL passes away at a city hospital today after a protracted illness.

KOLKATA: Former West Bengal chief secretary TCDutt died at a city hospital today after a protracted illness.

He was 81. Dutta had a brilliant academic career and became chief secretary during 1989-91.

He was also a former chairman of Kolkata Port Trust and Haldia Petrochemicals limited ( HPL).

After retirement, Dutt was associated with a number of educational institutions and social welfare organisations. He was also in the governing body of IIM-C as also in Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM).

Former chief secretaries N Krishnamurthi, Anish Majumder, besides Dutta's one-time college friend Mohit Majumder, who was former vice-chancellor of Burdwan University, visited Dutt's residence to pay their last respects, among others.
