MUMBAI: Ben Bernanke, the former US Federal Reserve chairman and a distinguished fellow at the Bookings Institution, will address some of the leaders of Indian business and regulatory bodies on April 15.

Bernanke, who steered the global financial markets and economies out of the great recession of 2008 and is credited with averting a second great depression, will be the chief guest at Kotak Mahindra Bank-organised Kotak Presidium, a thought leadership series.

The event will be held in Mumbai. Among the invitees to the prestigious event could be the billionaire Ambani brothers, Tata Group boss Cyrus Mistry , Housing Development Finance Corp chairman Deepak Parekh and the Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan.

The current year’s one will be the second in a series after former US president Bill Clinton addressed the Kotak Presidium last year where he praised India’s role in combating HIV Aids.

“Globalisation has significantly altered the paradigms of business, policy and national thought, as they are increasingly being cross-pollinated by transnational ethic and experience,” Uday Kotak, executive vice chairman of Kotak Mahindra Bank, told the audience last year. “Kotak Presidium is a forum for global leaders and India’s business elite to share experiences to make the most of this dynamic environment.
