Former Union Minister Matang Sinh dies of Covid-related complications

Singh was elected to the Upper house in 1992 from Assam. He was union minister of state in parliamentary affairs from 1994 to 1998.

Former union minister and Congress leader, Matang Sinh died in a hospital in New Delhi on Thursday following COVID-19 related complications.

Singh was elected to the Upper house in 1992 from Assam. He was union minister of state in parliamentary affairs from 1994 to 1998.

During the period he wielded his clout and became all powerful and most of the decision of Northeast India Congress party was taken by him.


CBI had in past arrested former Union minister and media baron Matang Sinh in Shardha chit fund scam.

Matang Sinh was born in 1962 and was a resident of Tinsukia.
