Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's condition critical
"Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been admitted for the last weeks at AIIMS. Unfortunately his condition has worsened over the last 24 hours," AIIMS said

"Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been admitted for the last nine weeks at AIIMS. Unfortunately his condition has worsened over the last 24 hours," AIIMS said in a media released.
"His condition is critical and he is on life support system," the release added.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers including Piyush Goyal and Smriti Irani visited AIIMS to inquire about the his health condition.
Later in the night, several leaders and ministers including Suresh Prabhu, Jitendra Singh, Harsh Vardhan and Shahnawaz Hussain visited the hospital.
Vajpayee, a diabetic, has only one functional kidney. He suffered a stroke in 2009 that weakened his cognitive abilities. Subsequently, he developed dementia.
Vajpayee was admitted to the AIIMS in June with kidney tract infection, chest congestion, urinary tract infection and low urine output. The BJP stalwart slowly withdrew from public life due to illness and remained confined to his residence for many years.
