Former PM Manmohan Singh unveils statue of former Gujarat Governor Naval Kishore Sharma
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed solidarity with Singh over summons by a court in coal scam.

DAUSA: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today unveiled the statue of former Gujarat Governor Naval Kishore Sharma at his ancestral village here and asked the people to follow his principles and contribute in nation building.
Singh also inaugurated a community centre and unveiled the statue at a function attended by senior Congress party leaders including Motilal Vora and Jandardan Dwivedi.
Addressing the gathering, Singh highlighted the life of Sharma, a stalwart leader of the state who had held several positions in the party and governments, and said leaders like Sharma were needed today to strengthen the Congress party.
Sharma dedicated his life for the welfare and uplift of ST and SC, poor and farmers and worked to make them independent and self reliant, he said.
"Today, it is necessary to follow his principles and contribute in nation building," Singh added.
AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi said the time to 'worship position' has gone and now it was the time to worship virtues and quality, be it in party organisation or social life.
"We should not lose our sense and patience in difficult times. Sharma also had difficult phases in life but he always took decision after a proper judgement of right and wrong and remained firm non his decision. Like him, we should also not compromise with self-respect," Dwivedi said.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed solidarity with Singh over summons by a court in coal scam.
"A controversy was created two days back. But nothing has left to say after so many comments by Congress leaders and others," Gehlot said.
He said Singh has earned name and fame across the globe, and his personality was beyond doubt and question which is why he was picked by Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the position of Prime Minister.
Brijkishore Sharma, former Rajasthan Minister and son of Naval Kishore Sharma, said the community centre was set up by Naval Kishore Sharma foundation.
Rajasthan PCC President Sachin Pilot and other leaders were also present.
