Former Nepal King Gyanendra meets Indian envoy

Nepalese Prime Minister Prachanda said that former King Gyanendra recently met the Indian envoy and made some sarcastic remarks about his party.

KATHMANDU: Nepalese Prime Minister Prachanda said that former King Gyanendra recently met the Indian envoy and made some sarcastic remarks about his party.

Prachanda, who met select editors of Nepalese dailies on Thursday said that Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Rakesh Sood met the former King in an undisclosed location. "Sood told me about his recent meeting with the King" Prachanda told the journalists.

However, the Indian embassy refused to comment in the matter.

The former King, who will visit India in the near future to attend a family wedding, met Sood in connection with his proposed visit to India, Prachanda was quoted as saying.

During the meeting the former King sarcastically told the Ambassador that all his well wishers and friends have joined the Maoists party.

There are media reports that loyalists of the former King have joined the CPN-Maoist and the Maoists have announced an alliance with republican and nationalist forces.
