Former MLA shot over election rivalry in Madhya Pradesh
CHATTARPUR: Former MLA Vijay Bahadur Singh Bundela (50) was today shot at Barigarh, 80 km from here.

Bundela was rushed to a hospital and his condition was critical, Lovkush region sub-divisional officer of police, M P Pouranik, told PTI.

The assailant was identified as Monu Singh. According to the police, the attack was a fall-out of rivalry between Pran Singh -- Monu's father -- and Ramvilas Bajpai who contested election to the post of Barigarh Janpad president.

Ramvilas, who is Bundela's supporter, defeated Pran, which provoked Monu, the officer said.

The bullet entered Bundela's back and came out of the chest.

Police had launched a hunt for Monu Singh, he said. Bundela had won assembly polls twice on SP ticket. He later joined BJP but lost election in 2008.
