Former minister and BJP legislator from Karnataka B Sriramulu has tendered his resignation as MLA

BANGALORE: Former minister and BJP legislator B Sriramulu will tender his resignation from the post of MLA to the Karnataka Assembly Speaker citing that his ‘self respect’ has been under attack.

This decision was announced by Sriramulu at a media conference on Sunday has already caused a flutter within the ruling BJP in Karnataka with Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda holding discussions with his trusted aides to sort out the issue.

Sriramulu, who has been associated with the powerful mining barons – Reddy brothers has already been implicated in the Lokayukta report on illegal mining of iron ore in Bellary district of Karnataka.

The rumours about the impending resignation by Sriramulu and floating a new political outfit has been going around for a few days and today’s decision has not surprised many and is generally seen as a pressure tactic on the Sadananda Gowda government.

Sriramulu and his key associates – G Janardhan Reddy and G Karunakara Reddy were dropped from the Cabinet after the names appeared in the Lokayukta report. This has irked the powerful Reddy brothers who have been seeking at least some of their supporters being inducted as ministers.

Sriramulu has not given any indications about his future plans and was very categorical that none of his supporters or MLAs should follow him.
