Former Manipur CM Raishang Keishing passes away

GUWAHATI: Former Manipur chief minister Raishang Keishing passed away on Tuesday.

He was 98 and was suffering from ailments.

Raishang joined Congress under Jawaharlal Nehru and his political carrier spanned over 70 years.


Manipur government has declared three day mourning.

Keishing served as Chief Minister of Manipur from 1980 to 1988 and from 1994 to 1997.

Oldest serving politician Raishang has been in Parliament since the first government of Independent India. His term at Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of Indian Parliament ended in 2014.
