Mishra, who has been on the run for more than a year and was proclaimed an ‘absconder’ by a court, will now be investigated for charges including breach of trust by his former girl friend. “In this case, he has been roaming around between Delhi and Mumbai freely even after court orders,” KK Manan, lawyer for the complainant told ET from Delhi.
“My client has suffered a lot the last few years due to this but she declined to backtrack despite threat calls. Finally, he has been remanded for seven days.” Mishra, a former chief executive of IDFC Capital, was charged by a former Emirates Airlines air hostess in a complaint with Vasant Kunj north police station in New Delhi in June 2013 that he had hidden his marital status and had a relationship with her for three years on the promise of marriage. Subsequently, he went back on his word, she alleged.
There were also allegations that he stole some jewellery belonging to her. The court of Ms Gomati Manocha of Patiala House court, the district court, stated in December, “It appears that accused Tapasije Mishra is avoiding his arrest intentionally.” On the promise of marriage, she started living with him from 2009 onwards. Later, she found that he was already married. “Mishra even has accounts in Shadi.com and other social networking sites wherein he chats with girls with a fake profile,” the complainant alleged.
