Former Congress leader Ripun Bora is appointed President of Trinamool Congress' Assam unit

Banerjee in a statement said that TMC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee envisions vast change for the furtherance and advancement of Assam and its people with All India Trinamool Congress at the forefront.

Former congress leader Ripun Bora is appointed as the president of Trinamool Congress Assam unit. Party's supremo Mamata Banerjee appointed him as the Assam state President of TMC. Bora recently left Congress and joined TMC.

Former Assam state Congress President and party’s ex-Rajya Sabha member Bora along with his wife and former Congress MLA Monika Bora and son on April 17 met TMC's national General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Kolkata and joined the West Bengal’s ruling party.

Banerjee in a statement said that TMC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee envisions vast change for the furtherance and advancement of Assam and its people with All India Trinamool Congress at the forefront.


The Chairperson has appointed Bora, former Assam Minister, as the state (Assam) President of AITC with immediate effect.

Bora tweeted : “My gratitude to AITC Chairperson Smti Mamata Banerjee and National General Secretary Shri Abhishek Banerjee for showing faith in me and appointing me as the State President of AITC Assam. I will continue to work for the betterment of our state with the best of my ability.”
