Srinagar: The Public Safety Act dossiers against former J&K chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti claim that they are radical influencers who have played role in inciting common people against the Union of India.

For Omar, 49, who has also served as MoS Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commerce, J&K administration is wary of his influence over the electorate. The PSA dossier states that Omar’s capacity to influence people for any cause ‘could be gauged from the fact that he was able to convince his electorate to come and vote in huge numbers even during peak of militancy and poll boycotts’.

The dossier also mentions his opposition to Centre’s decision on Article 370 and influencing people on micro blogging site Twitter, where he has over three million followers.“Despite being a mainstream politician… (Omar) has been planning activities against the Union of India under the guise of politics,” read the PSA dossier. Even though Omar was detained on the night of August 4, the dossier mentions that he removed his cover and resorted to dirty politics and radical methodology. Meanwhile, the PSA dossier of PDP chief Mufti, states that she showed reluctance to sign a bond asking her not to issue any statements against the scrapping of Article 370.

Mufti’s daughter Iltija Mufti wrote a long thread on Twitter mentioning the grounds of detention of her mother and her response to the charges. “She promotes separatism…and has been recognised as a hard headed and scheming person, known for dangerous and insidious machinations,” reads the dossier of Mufti. It also mentions the symbol (inkpot and pen) of the party alleging that the symbol has been taken from Muslim United Front, which participated in the 1987 elections in J&K.
