Former BSP MP Kadir Rana gets bail in violence case
MUZAFFARNAGAR: Former BSP MP Kadir Rana and 11 others were granted bail by a court here after they appeared before it following a direction by Allahabad High Court in connection with an appeal against their acquittal in a 12-year-old violence case.

Rana and others appeared in the Chief Judical Magistrate court and submitted a bail bond of Rs 25000 each.

Uttar Pradesh government had filed an appeal in the high court challenging their acquittal on April 15.

Issuing a bailable warrant, the Allahabad High Court had directed that in case the accused respondents are arrested or appear before the court of CJM, Muzaffar Nagar they may be released on bail on the undertaking that they shall appear before the high court on September 14.

All the persons were accused of violent protests at the resident of District Magistrate, against the arrest of BSP candidate for alleged violation of poll code during Lok Sabha polls.

Rana was also among those arrested in connection with 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots and had been granted bail.
