Former BJP MLA in Tripura who joined Trinamool Congress (TMC) resigned from the TMC alleging the party’s “internal groupism”.

Das alleged there is no democratic environment both in BJP and TMC. Das was elected Surma seat in 2018 Assembly polls as a BJP candidate. By poll to this seat is scheduled for June 23. Surma assembly constituency, reserved for the scheduled caste.

Das before joining TMC praised TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee .


By-polls would be held in Agartala, Town Bordowali, Surma and Jubarajnagar assembly constituencies, which were lying vacant after the resignation of three BJP MLAs and death of CPI-M legislator Ramendra Chandra Debnath.
