Former Bihar minister P N Sharma dies

PATNA: Former Bihar minister P N Sharma died here today after prolonged illness, State Legislative Council sources said.

He was 89. Sharma was minister in the cabinet of Congress Chief Minister Satyendra Narayan Singh. He was a member of Bihar Legislative Council for five terms.

Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and his predecessor and senior JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar paid respect to the departed leader by visiting his home.

Kumar said Sharma was a great human being who mingled with people from all walks of life.

Chairman Legislative Council Awdesh Narayan Singh condoled the death of Sharma.

"Besides being a loss for the state its a personal loss for me as I used to learn a lot from Sharma for efficient running of the Upper House of Bihar Legislature," Singh told PTI while condoling the demise of the leader.
