Formation of party will be turning point in TN politics: G K Vasan
MADURAI: Former Union Minister G K Vasan, who quit the Congress, today claimed his proposed Tiruchirappalli conference when he would announce the formation of a new party, would be a turning point in state politics.

"The support to me from majority of the Congressmen and various organisations and outfits is pouring in. This shows Tamil Nadu politics is in for a change for the good," he told reporters here.

He denied reports that his party planned to contest from the Srirangam constituency which had fallen vacant following the disqualification of the former chief minister and AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa following her conviction in the disproportionate assets case.

He claimed that in the last 48 years, national parties did not take the state in the path of growth. Though the Tamil Maanila Congress was merged with the Congress 12 years ago, the high command did not accept any of their demands, he alleged.

Vasan had announced yesterday that he would reveal the name of his party and flag at a public meeting to be held on November 28 at Tiruchirapalli.
