For government jobs, join Youth Congress: Goa CM
Youngsters seeking government jobs should enrol themselves with the Youth Congress, Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said on Wednesday.
"I keep telling people I have given at least 1,000 jobs (as chief minister). Anyone below (the age of) 35 can become a member... remember that. Those who have got jobs and those who are looking for jobs can also become members. If you have membership, then we can see while giving jobs," Kamat said.
While the Youth Congress website describes it as the "first political organisation in the country to conduct internal elections", Kamat said it was "not a political organisation". Service rules ban government servants from joining political parties.
Kamat set targets for all legislators to enrol at least 2,000 to 3,000 members into the Youth Congress during the membership drive that ends this month.
Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi is leading the Youth Congress initiative to enrol members and conduct elections for the Congress youth wing's organisational posts.
The opposition has accused the Congress-led government in Goa of giving government jobs to candidates from constituencies held by Congress legislators.
