Following Amma's demise, O Paneerselvam sworn in as chief minister of Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Following the sad demise of AIADMK party leader and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalitha, AIADMK has decided to appoint O Paneerselvam as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and has sworn in. Governor C Vidyasagar Rao has begun oath ceremony with a two-minute silence.

15 other ministers also sworn in along with the new CM.

7 days of state mourning has been announced in the state by AIADMK and schools and colleges are to remain shut for the next three days.

Initially Jayalalithaa's mortal remains will be taken to her residence in Poes Garden and will later be kept at Rajaji Hall for people to pay last respects.

All Anna university examinations scheduled between 6.12.2016 and 8.12.2016 are postponed. Dates will be intimated later. Also, classes are cancelled during the above three days, said Anna University registrar S Ganesan
