Fodder scam: Supreme Court dimisses Lalu Prasad Yadav's plea
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday refuses to accept former Union Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's plea to change the judge dealing with one of the fodder scam cases against him.

The RJD supremo is facing charges of embezzling Rs 70 crore from the treasury in the fodder scam case. Any conviction and sentence would prevent him from contesting in the 2014 general elections.

Lalu raised fears of bias against the judge days before he decided to hand out a ruling in the case.

Earlier, he moved the High Court and the Supreme Court seeking removal of the judge on the grounds of his proximity with a minister of the Nitish Kumar's Cabinet.

Trial has been going on the case since 1997. Almost all evidence has been wrapped up. Today, a three-judge bench of the top court, headed by CJI P Sathasivam rejected all his apprehensions of bias.
