Fodder banks and depots for drought affected areas

The Uttar Pradesh government has constituted a committee for setting up of fodder banks and depots to ensure cattle-feed availability in drought-hit areas of Bundelkhand.

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has constituted a committee for setting up of fodder banks and depots to ensure cattle-feed availability in drought-hit areas of Bundelkhand.

The committee, to be headed by Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), will chalk out plan for the purpose of starting fodder banks and depots at panchayat level, sources said.

Chief Secretary P K Mishra chaired a state-level meeting of Natural Calamity Relief Committee last evening, where this matter was discussed, they said.

Directives have been issued to ensure counting of cattle heads to avoid any misappropriation in fodder distribution.

The Chief Secretary stressed on regular monitoring of the setting up of the fodder banks and depots, so that they can be completed in stipulated time, sources said.

The meeting also reviewed the conduct of health camps in the state. Mishra directed the District Magistrates to go for surprise inspection of health camps organised at Primary health centres and community health centres, sources said.
