Chidambaram was commenting on a reply given by Jaitley to a question in Rajya Sabha on the 14th Finance Commission recommendations.

NEW DELHI: Congress leader P Chidambaram today said Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has "slipped" when he told Parliament that Service Tax revenues are not shared with the states.

"FM was wrong. He slipped. All taxes including Service Tax are shared," Chidambaram said in a tweet.

He was commenting on a reply given by Jaitley to a question in Rajya Sabha on the 14th Finance Commission recommendations. In the reply, he had said as per the Commission recommendations Service Tax is not shared with the states and that it would be in their interest to pass the GST to get a share in the service tax.
