Fly-over collapse: MP govt suspends three engineers

The department will wait for the report of a three-member committee formed by the district administration before taking further action.

INDORE: Madhya Pradesh government today suspended an executive engineer and two engineers following the collapse of a portion of an under-construction fly-over here yesterday.

Three labourers were injured in the collapse. Public Works Department sources said Executive Engineer R N Mishra and two Assistant Engineers were suspended for alleged negligence today.

The department will wait for the report of a three-member committee formed by the district administration before taking further action.

A 30-metre-long slab of the fly-over at Teen Imli Chowk, being built by a private firm, fell yesterday.

Mishra, the suspended official, had claimed a speeding truck hit the iron rods supporting the slab, which caused the collapse. He denied the allegation that the contractor company was using substandard materials.
