Flood alert issued in Baramullah in Jammu & Kashmir

Authorities in north Kashmir's Baramulla district sounded a flood alert after water levels rose considerably in the Jhelum river following heavy rains.

SRINAGAR: Authorities in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday sounded a flood alert after water levels rose considerably in the Jhelum river following heavy rains.

The district administration also announced closure of all schools for today.

"We have sounded a flood alert in the district following heavy rains. We have also closed all schools for today," District Development Commissioner, Baramullah Ghulam Ahmad Khawja told PTI.

He said the district administration is fully geared up to meet any eventuality in the wake of floods.
