RAIPUR: Five Naxals, including two women, today surrendered in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh alleging exploitation of lower rank cadres by senior Maoist leaders of Andhra Pradesh.

The rebels, identified as Ramsai Dugga, Juru Salam, Milap Usendi, Basontin alias Sandhya and Manki Dhruva, turned themselves in before police and district Collector this afternoon, Kanker Superintendent of Police Jitendra Singh Meena told PTI.

A dreaded cadre, Ramsai was deployed as commander of platoon no 5 of Partapur area committee under North Bastar division of Communist Party of India (Maoist).

He was involved in various Naxal incidents, including Badgaon ambush in Kanker killing three police personnel (2008), killing two jawans in an ambush in Pakhanjore (2009) and attack on a ROP (road opening party) in which five policemen were killed Durgkondal area (2010), the SP said.

Milap, commander of platoon no 1 in north Bastar, was part of the Naxal squad that shot dead MLA Jagbandhu Majhi in Odisha in 2011.

The two Naxals were carrying a cash reward of Rs eight lakhs each on their head, the SP said.

Woman cadre Manki (26), working as commander of East Chargaon Local Operation Squad (LOS), was involved in several Naxal incidents, the SP said, adding that the government had declared Rs 3 lakh reward for her arrest.

Necessary assistance will be provided to them as per the rehabilitation and surrender policy of the government, he added.
