Five lakh traders down shutters in Tamil Nadu

Traders affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Vanikar Sangankalin Peramaippu, converged at suburban Vandalur where a day-long conference is scheduled.

CHENNAI: About five lakh traders across Tamil Nadu today downed shutters coinciding with the 32nd Traders' Day celebrations being held near here.

Traders affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Vanikar Sangankalin Peramaippu, a federation of various associations, converged at suburban Vandalur where a day-long conference is scheduled.

President of the federation, AM Vikrama Raja, had earlier said that five lakh members were expected to attend the conference.

Issues pertaining to traders will be discussed in the day-long conference, an annual event held by the federation.
