JAIPUR:Five men were charred to death when a trailer collided head on with a truck and caught fire in Ajmer district of Rajasthan, police said today.

The incident occurred near Baandarsindari area last evening when the trailer loaded with marble tiles was on its way to Jaipur from Ahmedabad.

Besides the driver Ramkumar and cleaner Deepchand, businessmen Lalaram Mali, Mukesh Mali and Subhay Singh were also travelling in the trailer's cabin.

"All of them got trapped inside and burnt alive," police said adding, the driver and cleaner of the other truck managed to jump before the vehicles caught fire and were admitted to a nearby hospital.

After the incident, traffic on the Jaipur-Ajmer national highway affected for nearly three hours, they said.
