Five killed in fresh violence in Assam

Fresh incident of violence took place in Bijni in Bodoland in Assam. Police recovered five bodies. Those killed belonged to minority community.

GUWAHATI: Fresh incident of violence took place in Bijni in Bodoland in Assam. Police recovered five bodies.

IGP of Assam police L R Bishnoi told ET, "Five bodies were recovered from a village in Chirang district in the evening on Saturday."

Those killed belonged to minority community. To instill confidence after the massive exodus of North easterners from South Indian states and Mumbai, R. Ashoka, Deputy Chief Minister (Home and Transport), Government of Karnataka and Director General of police, Lalrokhuma Pachua arrived in Guwahati.

There are around 3.5 lakh Northeast people in Karnataka. Ashoka met Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and briefed him about the steps taken by his government.
