Five farmers died of 'shock' in parts of Uttar Pradesh, all apparently distressed over damage to their crops due to unseasonal rains in the state.

LUCKNOW: Five farmers died of 'shock' in parts of Uttar Pradesh, all apparently distressed over damage to their crops due to unseasonal rains in the state.

Chhotelal (60) of Sadana area and Murlidhar (68) of Musoli village from Sitapur district died yesterday due to 'shock' after incurring losses due to the rain, officials said.

While the former died after returning home, Murlidhar reportedly reached his residence in a critical condition and died while being rushed to a hospital, family members said.

Another distressed farmer in Sant Kabir Nagar district, 60-year-old Chhotelal of Utrawal village died yesterday after being upset over damage of crops because of rain and thunderstorms.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Sarvesh Dikshit said the survey for the crops damaged in the calamity is underway and according to inputs received so far, 50 per cent of crops have been destroyed.

ADM Ajay Kant Saini said that relief would be given to the family members of the farmer after a probe.

In Baghpat, ADM Rakesh Kumar Singh confirmed the death of of one Raghunath (62) of Sikhada village but said that cause of his death could not be ascertained yet.

Raghunath died yesterday reportedly after he incurred losses, his family members said.

Compensation would be given to the farmer once his post mortem report is received, Singh said.

Vidya Sagar (50) a farmer of Niyamatpur village in Barabanki district died allegedly of cardiac arrest due to crop loss.

ADM Prabhakant Awasthi said that the post mortem report of the farmer is awaited.
