Five centres of excellence to come up at engineering colleges

The Gujarat industries department signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with private enterprises today to set up five centres of excellence in three universities and two industrial training institutes (ITIs) in the state.

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat industries department signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with private enterprises today to set up five centres of excellence in three universities and two industrial training institutes (ITIs) in the state, a statement issued by the Gujarat state government said.

"The Gujarat industries department signed MoUs with private enterprises to set up five new centres of excellence in engineering colleges of the state," the press statement said.

The public-private partnership project of setting up these centres of excellence would cost Rs 500 crore.

As many as 13 centres of excellence in engineering colleges have been set up so far with the help of the private sector.

Around 50,000 engineering students are expected to benefit from the five new centres of excellence.

The state government will provide Rs 85 crore to set up these centres of excellence.
