NEW DELHI: Companies under Steel Ministry have donated Rs 50 crore towards Odisha Chief Minister's Relief Fund for those affected by floods.

SAIL and NMDC both contributed Rs 20 crore each to the fund, while the remaining came from companies like RINL, MSTC, MOIL, KIOCL, MECON and OMDC, an official statement said today.

Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma handed over the cheque to J K Mohapatra, Odisha Chief Secretary here.

While handing over the cheque, Verma expressed condolence over the loss of life caused by the calamity and assured continuing support and assistance to the state.

The contributions made were in addition to other CSR and sustainability activities to be undertaken by these units in the calamity affected areas.
