Firing at Delhi's IGI Airport, official says all OK

NEW DELHI: The international airport in the capital was the scene of a major security scare when a group of gunmen reportedly fired three rounds at Gate No 4 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the early hours of Friday.

According to reports the assailant escaped from the place after firing. Security forces are trying to trace the white Qualis car in which the gunmen came by.

However, security officials have denied the reports.

"We have combed the airport inch by inch and we have found nothing. The same is for the domestic airport. Nothing has happened," said K. R. Singh, an official at the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) airport control room.

"All our men are still searching but have found nothing. We have no incident," he added, rejecting unconfirmed media reports of a shooting incident at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

NSG Commandos are already on the spot.

Flight operations, which were earlier stalled, have resumed now.
