NEW DELHI: A firecracker explosion in a basement at Saket city court in south Delhi today triggered panic, following which police and fire officials were rushed to the spot.

The incident was reported about 12.30 PM and several teams of police officials were rushed there. Meanwhile, Delhi Fire Services also rushed six fire tenders to attend the call, senior officials said.

"The firecracker exploded at the parking lot in the basement of the lawyer's chamber building," police said.

However, it is yet to be ascertained how a firecracker could explode inside the high-security premises of the city court, a police official said.

The area was later cordoned off and visited by senior officials of the police district. Further investigation is underway, the official added.
