JAMMU: The season's simmering heat caused a fire in Trikuta hills, the cave shrine of Vaishnodevi in Jammu and Kashmir, last night but it did not affect the pilgrims' route, official sources said.

"Due to high temperature, fire broke out at Tarakote area in Trikuta hills and spread to areas surrounding the cave shrine. The fire, which is quite far from the pilgrims' route, was extinguished by forest department officials and local people this morning," the sources said.
