Mohua Moitra booked for 'objectionable' remarks against Amit Shah
TMC MP Mahua Moitra found herself in trouble as an FIR has been filed against her over alleged 'objectionable' remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding infiltration from Bangladesh. The BJP had filed a police complaint in Krishnanag...

The FIR has been filed based on a complaint lodged by a local resident. A case was registered against Moitra at the Mana police station on Saturday under sections 196 (promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc) and 197 (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), an official said.
Earlier, the BJP had filed a police complaint against Moitra in Krishnanagar, West Bengal, calling her comments "distasteful and hate remarks". The party demanded to know if this is the official stance of the TMC. However, the TMC has not officially responded to the controversy.
Moitra sparked a controversy after she allegedly said that if Amit Shah fails to stop infiltration from Bangladesh, "the first thing you should do is cut Amit Shah's head and put it on your table."
A video was posted on social media earlier showing the purported remarks of Moitra, where she said, "He (Amit Shah) keeps saying infiltrators, infiltrators, infiltrators. The border is protected by forces that come under the Home Ministry."
Moitra alleged that the Union government was shirking its responsibilities on border security.
