KOCHI: The Kerala Police have registered a first information report in a case related to a Kozikode native’s alleged links with global militant outfit ISIS. Police in Malappuram registered an FIR against Kozikode native, Riyab Rahman, believed to be in Syria, recruiting people for ISIS and propagating ideas of the militant outfit through social media.

Malappuram SP Debesh Kumar Behera, in charge of the investigation, said though the details of the case will be known only after investigations, prima facie there seemed to be a connection between Riyab Rahman and ISIS. The FIR comes at a time when west Asian nations have deported a few migrant workers from Kerala for alleged terror links.

The state police had arrested four people with suspected links with ISIS who reached Kerala from the Gulf.
