FIR against Yeddyurappa and HD Kumaraswamy for fixing land deals in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: Former chief ministers of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa (BJP) and HD Kumaraswamy (JD-S) have been booked under several sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the IPC for their actions in the denotification of land in Bengaluru.

An FIR was filed by the state’s Lok Ayukta police on Wednesday, following a complaint by an activist, Jayakumar Hiremath. Lok Ayukta SP Sonia Narang told ET: “It is a parcel of 1 acre and 11 guntas land in Gangenahalli, for which final notification was issued in 1988 as an extension of the Mathadahalli Layout by the BDA. A person named Rajashekharaiah claimed he had physical possession of this land and sought its denotification in 2007.”

Narang said Kumaraswamy, as CM, had filed this request and made some notations on it. The land was finally denotified when Yeddyurappa was the CM. However, after the denotification, a person named Vimala, who is Kumaraswamy’s mother-in-law, claimed to hold general power of attorney for this land and made a sale deed in the name of her son, T S Channappa.

“We have filed an FIR against Yeddyurapppa, Ku m a r a swamy, Vimala , Chennappa, Rajashekharaiah, concerned officials and others. We will know who the officials are during the course of probe, and we will add them,” Narang said.
