FIR against Sanjeev Balyan for controversial comments against Mohd Azam Khan

SAMBHAL: An FIR has been registered against BJP MP and Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan for his controversial remarks against UP Minister Mohd Azam Khan.

The FIR was registered against Balyan at Sambhal Police Station by district President of SP's youth wing, Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade, which alleged that the minister had hurt the feeling of Muslim community and tried to incite communal passion, Station Officer, Sambhal, Anil Kumar Mishra said.

The minister has been booked under 153A IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language..) and IPC 506 (criminal intimidation).

The probe will be conducted by Amroha Police. During a meeting in Amroha on December 21, Balyan had allegedly termed Azam Khan as a terrorist.

A case was earlier filed against Balyan in Rampur on December 23 at Gunj Police Station alleging that the minister's speech had created tension and was against communal harmony and peace.

Khan and Balyan have been locked in a war of words, with both accusing each other of indulging in communal politics.
