A FIR has been lodged against Google under the IT Act following a complaint by a local for allegedly facilitating pornographic content on android based mobile phones, easily accessible to underage users.

VARANASI: A FIR has been lodged against search engine giant Google under the IT Act following a complaint by a local for allegedly facilitating pornographic content on android based mobile phones, easily accessible to underage users.

The FIR was registered against the Manager of Hyderabad-headquartered Google-India on a complaint of one Vineet Kumar Singh, a resident of Patel Nagar here.

In the complaint, Singh has alleged that Google Play Store application on android mobile phones gives easy and free access to pornographic content, without knowlege of the user's age and other details.

Singh alleged the application gives easy access to children, who are being attracted to the pornographic material, Station House Officer Cantt, Vipin Rai said.
