FIR was registered against Amar Singh for hurting religious sentiments.

LUCKNOW: An FIR was registered against Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh at Chowk police station today for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of Shia community.

"An FIR under section 153 A of IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race etc) has been lodged against Amar Singh for making a speech on November 4 here that hurt sentiments of Shia community," Station House officer NP Singh told news agency.

The FIR was lodged by some Shia community leaders who said that Singh had compared Kalyan Singh with Karbala martyr Janabe Hur hurting their sentiments.

Singh in his speech had said, "Kalyan nahi, ye Hur hai, BJP ka Bhasmasur hai", (Kalyan is like a Hur, who will finish the BJP), alleged Shia Youth Front President Mohammad Zulfikar.

The Front activists also burnt effigy of Amar Singh at Bada Imambara, while demanding strict action against them.

Singh was in the state capital to campaign for party nominee from Lucknow(West) Bukkal Nawab.
