Final hearings in Ravi Shankaran extradition case on October 10, 11
A UK court hearing the extradition case of Naval War Room leak accused Ravi Shankaran will take on the final submissions on Oct 10 & 11.
District Judge Nicholas Evans said in the Westminster Magistrates Court today that for two days starting October 10, the court will hear the final arguments in the case against Shankaran who was arrested in April 2010.
"I will hear the final submissions on October 10 and 11," District Judge Evans said.
Till that time Shankaran, who was present in the court, will be on unrestricted bail.
Shankaran, a retired naval commander and a relative of the former Navy Chief, Admiral Arun Prakash, has been accused of leaking classified information from the War Room to arms dealers.
He has been absconding since the case was registered by the CBI in March 2006.
The agency revoked his passport in May that year and secured a Red Corner Notice against him after filing a charge sheet in July.
The extradition request was sent to the United Kingdom in 2007 following reports that he was in the country.
He was arrested by UK authorities in April 2010 on the basis of the non-bailable arrest warrants issued by the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, New Delhi.
