Fight for Amethi: BJP's Smriti Irani visits Rahul Gandhi's constituency
NEW DELHI: Sparking a political fight, HRD minister & senior BJP leader Smriti Irani on Tuesday visited Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's constituency Amethi.

Irani, who met farmers in Amethi, said, "The less said about him (Rahul Gandhi) the better, he could have brought in benefits (for people of Amethi) long ago when he was in power."

Asked about Rahul's announcement of visiting Amethi, Irani mocked, "Rahul Gandhi's visit announcement of came after mine, so who is copying whom? The MP of Amethi is missing, if he follows my footsteps the people of Amethi might get to see him."

"Three generations of Congress made promises & dreams to people of Amethi, promises only Modi government can fulfil," Irani pitched. "I had promised Amethi that I will be with them all the way. I will come back on 26th May," she added.

Reacting to Smriti Irani's visit, Rahul Gandhi said, "I hope she (Smriti Irani) gets the food park back."

Incidentally, the issue of Amethi food park also caused a storm in Lok Sabha, with Minister of Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal, slamming Opposition, and giving details regarding the delay in implementation of the food park, which had first been given in-principle nod on September 24, 2010.

Last week, Rahul Gandhi attacked the Narendra Modi government in Lok Sabha over the reported scrapping of a mega food park project in his constituency of Amethi, accusing the Prime Minister of practicing politics of revenge and not "politics of change" which he had promised.
