Few instances of acts attracting disciplinary action in JNU: Government
NEW DELHI: There have been "a few instances" attracting disciplinary action against students that have come to the notice of Jawaharlal Nehru University, the government said in Lok Sabha today.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary said this in a written reply on whether students of the university have been found involved in Naxal and anti-national activities.

"A few instances, attracting disciplinary action, have come to the notice of the university," he said.

The unstarred question also sought details on such cases reported in the last three years.

Chaudhary, however, did not give any details of the instances.

On the FIR in the sedition case lodged over an event in JNU which sparked a massive rage, the minister said, "As and when any information/complaint in this regard is received, proper legal or administrative action is taken, as warranted."

Delhi Police has registered a sedition case in connection with an event in JNU to protest against the hanging of Afzal Guru in which anti-national slogans were allegedly raised and arrested JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar and two more students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya.

Earlier this week, the case was transferred to Delhi Police's counter-terrorism unit Special Cell.
