FDI in retail: Government examining views of parties, decision soon, says Rajiv Shukla

Government is examining the suggestions of political parties for resolving the FDI issue and will take a decision on it shortly, Shukla said.

NEW DELHI: Government is examining the suggestions of political parties for resolving the FDI issue and will take a decision on it shortly, Union Minister Rajiv Shukla said today.

"We are hopeful of resolving the issue (logjam in Parliament). All the suggestions from political parties for resolving the issue are being examined. A decision would be taken shortly," Shukla, who is Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, told reporters outside Parliament House.

Parliament was stalled for seventh consecutive day today as the opposition and a section of UPA supporters created uproar over the FDI in retail decision in both Houses.

Asked about the demand of some MPs for "no work no pay" policy, Shukla said, "It is opposition which is not allowing Parliament to function. Even question hour is not being allowed."
