FDI in retail: All-party meet to end FDI logjam begins

The all-important meeting is being chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and will decide if the opposition allows Parliament to function.

An all-party meet to end the FDI logjam in Parliament is underway.

The all-important meeting is being chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, according to Times Now, and will decide if the opposition allows Parliament to function.

The government was forced to call for the all-party meet after the opposition made it absolutely clear that it will not allow the Parliament to function till government rolls back the FDI decision.

However, the possibility of a breakthrough remains slim with sources indicating that the government is unwilling to reverse its decision.

Ahead of the meeting, the opposition parties reiterated their resolve to oppose FDI at all costs.

JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, speaking to media before going for the meeting, said Parliament will only function if the government agrees to rollback its decision.
