FDI in defence sector will open floodgates to extremists: CPI
COIMBATORE: CPI today alleged that the NDA government's decision to allow 100 per cent FDI in defence sector would be dangerous to the country and open the floodgates to extremist activities.

"There is the possibility that foreign firms will supply arms and ammunition, being manufactured for India, to terrorists, which will be very dangerous to the security of the country," Tamil Nadu state unit secretary D Pandian told reporters here.

The government's reported efforts to do away with reservation for the minorities, that too created by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, would also be against the integrity and sovereignty of the Nation, he said.

Pandian, here to unveil a portrait of late Parvathi Krishnan, former MP and a trade unionist at the AITUC office here, urged Chief Minister Jayalalitha, who is due to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Delhi, to try and extract an assurance over formation of Cauvery Water Board and to solve the fishermen issues involving Sri Lanka.
