FCI indicts 2 officials for scam, slaps recovery notice for Rs 44 lakh

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) on Friday slapped recovery notices of Rs 44 lakh on an inspector and sub-inspector, who were indicted over an alleged scam involving 5,800 wheat bags missing from the godowns.

KAITHAL: The Food Corporation of India ( FCI) on Friday slapped recovery notices of Rs 44 lakh on an inspector and sub-inspector, who were indicted over an alleged scam involving 5,800 wheat bags missing from the godowns.

FCI authorities also indicated at registration of a criminal case against errant inspector Gaje Singh and sub-inspector Chetan Singh.

The bags containing grain had gone missing from FCI's makeshift godown in grain market at Kaithal. The two accused were put on the duty to ensure zero theft of grains.

Said district food and supplies controller K K Bishnoi , We have given 15 days time to four persons involved in the scam for recovery of the grain. Thereafter we will go ahead with further action. In case they do not act upon the instructions, a case will be registered against them.''
