Faster, transparent recruitment under BJP: PM Narendra Modi

BJP governments in Centre and states have recruited people 'quicker' in a 'transparent manner', Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said. Recent meetings with CEOs of Walmart, Apple, Foxconn and Cisco suggested that they were bullish about India, he said during a video 'rozgar mela' when over 71,000 appointment letters were distributed.

There is 'unprecedented positivity' about industry and investment in the country. From applying for government jobs to announcement of results, several things have gone online. The staff selection board which used to take up to 18 months for recruitment takes only 6-8 months, he said.

"The possibility of corruption and nepotism in recruitment for government jobs has now ended," Modi claimed. Interviews for Group C and Group D jobs have been abolished. "The journey which started with the spirit of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' is working for a 'Viksit Bharat'," he said.


FDI and export have been creating employment opportunities. The nature of jobs has also been changing. The government constantly supported emerging sectors, he said. The country has seen a revolution in the start-up sector and their numbers have risen to nearly a lakh from a few hundred before 2014, the year the BJP came to power at the Centre, he said, adding that they were estimated to have provided a minimum 10 lakh jobs.

Government has spent about ₹34 lakh crore on capital expenditure and on basic facilities. ₹10 lakh crore was allocated in this year's budget, he said.
